In depth study

During the course of the Erasmus+ “Digital Schools of Europe” project (2015-2018) it became clear that while the use of a self-assessment tool by schools was helpful in terms of assessing their position on the spectrum of digital transformation and in identifying associated strengths and weaknesses, for many schools accessing relevant resources relevant to their particular situation was a difficulty and a frustration. While resources do exist, they are not always easy to locate and gaps exist in many areas.

The cornerstone and innovation of SHELFIE is to respond effectively by identifying effective resources and making them available to all schools so that they can quickly locate specific proven resources relevant to their particular situation.

In order to achieve this objective, it is necessary to gain the knowledge of the areas that schools are struggling most with and to ensure the provision of easily located resources of proven quality.

A well structured questionnaire will provide the needed information to create high quality and proven resources for all the schools to use. It will also raise awareness within the schools, get them involved and show them how important they are for the project.

The questionnaire, addressed to both teachers and school leaders and available in all of the partners’ languages, will seek to establish and prioritise the difficulties being experienced by schools as they attempt to progress the digitalization agenda and to make the use of modern digital tools integral to teaching and learning experiences. These results, in due course, will present a country-by-country analysis in addition to an aggregated analysis across all partner countries. A graphical analysis, accompanied by a written report, will be used to inform the shape and development of both IO2 and IO3.

This IO will be the basis to support schools in moving beyond diagnosing difficulties to a situation where they can quickly locate and bring to bear resources targeted particularly to their unique situation, namely the cornerstone of the development of all the resources in IO2.  Moreover, it will also be disseminated to help others, by using the questionnaire and reading the report, to find ways themself without having to do in-depth studies.

The analysis starts from a questionnaire structured in line with the SELFIE tool
